Christmas

The weeks leading up to Christmas found us busy collecting and giving gifts to families who were barely getting by. Still reeling from the effects of losing everything, they were focused on just meeting the needs of day to day living and did not have the ability to get Christmas presents for their children or other family members.  At LiFrA, we were saddened, knowing that many families who had happily celebrated many Christmases before would be unable to do so this year.  So many people, including young children, witnessed unimaginable events and experienced the loss of their friends and whole community.   So, we went to work collecting funds, buying and wrapping toys and other presents, helping people get winter supplies and even decorations.  LiFrA was there to help them have one less thing to figure out.   We wanted the survivors of the Camp Fire to know that people are still thinking of them and care about them and their families.

Our director, Nicole, even enlisted her own kids’ help in wrapping and delivering presents.  Each family’s delivery had a special note in it.  Nicole says, “I love being a part of something that really makes a difference in families’ lives. The spirits of these children are looking up and getting better.  If we could make life easier on them, that is all that matters”
